We move, get settled, adjust, and just when things feel slightly normal...we move again. All I can hope is that someday...we'll put down roots.

Jet Set
I'm feeling better after my yuckies a few days ago. It was my dinner that made me sick and after taking the day to recoup and rest, the next day was better. I've spent the entire day picking up the house so when my friends come home with me next week, it won't be messy. I'm packed and hoping to be able to sleep tonight. My flight to Cincy leaves at 5:45am so we're leaving the house at 4:30. John is nice enough to take me before he goes to work which is going to make a long day for him. I feel bad, but I'm grateful he's taking me. With that being said, I need to get my butt to bed!

Blah
Last night after I ate my dinner, almost immediately my stomach began to hurt. It felt like poo cramps (sorry, is that TMI?) and I just didn't feel right. The later it got, the yuckier I felt. When John got home at 11 I decided to try to eat a few crackers before I went to sleep.
Well, I woke up at 4am thinking, "I'm going to throw up!" I went in the bathroom, but the throw up feeling went away and I just had to use that bathroom. 3 other trips that hour to the bathroom, I never threw up but the feeling just wouldn't go away. I tried propping myself up in bed but I just couldn't get comfortable so around 6 I came downstairs, put a trash can next to me, laid propped up on the old couch, covered up and finally fell asleep. John came down around 8:30 and asked why I came down. I told him my story and he was nice enough to get me some cheerios and water.
It's now 9:30pm and the only things I've done today are lay on the couch, take a bubble bath, and manage to eat some McDonalds. I had cheerios for breakfast and some rice and crackers for lunch. I was starving around 6 but was afraid to eat, and at the same time not wanting to eat another round of rice or crackers. There's no protein in any of that and I knew I would just always keep being hungry. A cheeseburger and a coke sounded good so I went to McD's and got some. I've managed to not throw up and it actually tasted good, but my stomach still doesn't feel right. The good thing though is that I don't feel nauseous.
On the other hand, one thing that highly annoys me is that for some reason, once you get married, ANYTIME you say you are feeling like throwing up, people ALWAYS gotta say, "Ooohhh are you pregnant?!" That annoys me to NO END!! But, it's whatever. I can promise...definitely NOT pregnant unless it's through immaculate conception. TMI? Sorry. Those of you who know me well, and I'm pretty sure most of you do, I rarely censor myself and speak my mind. Some might not like it, but oh well.
I'm headed off to continue to lay here like a lazy slug. It's making me crazy because this is the second day I haven't gotten to work out. UGH! Hopefully tomorrow my belly is better and I can at least do the eleptical.

Hilarious!
Today I went to register myself at the Navy clinic so that way when I get sick or just need my annual checkup I can go there and be taken care of. On the way there I had to pee, so as soon as I got there, I used the bathroom. When I closed the door to the stall I noticed that the lock was called a "hiny hider!" It took everything of me to not laugh out loud. I thought it was hilarious!! What a funny name to call the bathroom stall. I have a friend who wears an apron when she breast feeds and she calls it her hooter hider, so it reminded me of her. Anyways, kind of a dumb post for today, but it made me laugh. Hope you laugh too!

Flawless
This has been one of the greatest weeks to date since we got here. The entire week has been sunny, gorgeous, and warmer every day. It's been low to mid 60s and I just couldn't be happier. I've been out running every day, minus today because my knees hurt so I did the elliptical in the basement instead. I'm sure you're thinking, why didn't you just go for a walk instead? Who wants to work out in the basement? Well we have windows that face the lake so working out down there isn't a drag. After working out and then tanning, I spent the rest of the day cleaning bathrooms, dusting, and washing the sheets on the spare bed in anticipation of my friends coming to visit in 2 weeks. I'm so excited!! They will be our first visitors which will be fun. I like having company as I like to make dinner for people and it will just be nice to have friends from home here in my house. Not many of my friends get the opportunity to visit so I'm so happy that they are coming. I've got just a little bit less than a week to finish picking things up and making sure everything is the way I want it before I leave for Cincy. I won't have the opportunity to go OCD the day before they get here since I'm coming with them, so I need to do it now.

Yoga
Tonight I went to a yoga class with my friend Brian and I still am not sure how I feel about it. I know yoga is not so much of a body workout (although some classes can be) but more of a mind workout, but I just have a hard time really getting in to it. I think my biggest struggle is that I feel like if I'm at the gym I should be doing something that makes me sweat and keeps my heart rate up. But that doesn't happen with yoga so therefore, I feel out of sorts. Brian told me that the girl who taught tonight teaches it at the Saratoga branch also, but there, they have a "yoga room" that is completely seperate from the rest of the gym. He said it's quiet, low lights and a much more relaxed environment than the one tonight, so I'm thinking I'll tag along Thursday for that one. If I like that one better, I'll try and make a habit of attending.

Happy Easter
Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Easter. Normally we'd be visiting family today but since we have no family up here, it'll be a regular day for us. Among other non-traditional/regular things will be our dinner. Most people eat ham but we will be eating lasagna. We talked about getting a Honeybaked Ham, but I waited too long to order one and I also didn't want to deal with going down to Albany to go get it yesterday. I'm sure it'd have been a nightmare. So. lasagna it is and some almond poundcake for dessert.

Free Burritos!!!

Today when John and I went to Dick's to look for some things he wants, we drove past the building/strip that will be housing our future Chipotle. My mouth watered thinking about it. I had told John I wondered when it opened and thought it would be sometime soon.
Well, in the time we went into Dick's, looked around and what not, came out to go home, they had a banner up that said, "FREE BURRITOS! THAT'S RIGHT 100% OFF = FREE." I would have fallen over had I been standing up. Then I see the date. April 23rd from 11-8. "Son of a bitch!" I yelled. Go figure, I will be gone then as I'm flying back to Cincinnati on the 22nd to see my new nephew when he'll arrive a few days after I get there (still not sure what day my sister is getting induced). Doesn't it figure. We've been waiting for this Chipotle since the first time we lived here almost 4 years ago. We had said then that a Chipotle would do a great business, although, no one around here knows what it is. This is where the free burritos come into play I'm assuming. A good way to get someone to try your product is to give it away for free.
As upset as I am that I won't be here for this crazy and fantastic even, I am pleased that when I come back the following week with 2 of my friends that it will be open. Ahhh, I can now successfully survive our 3 year stint here.

Dead Horse
Ok, I'm not trying to beat a dead horse here, bitching about my frustrations with trying to teach here, but I saw this artile today featured on AOL and it infuriated me. It talks about how teaching jobs are in abundance and how "easy" it is, especially for those who are not educators but are highly experienced in other fields and want to move into teaching. I couldn't even stand to read the entire artilce but to just browse through it. Looking toward the end where comments can be left, I was curious to see what people had said. I was happy to see that most everyone who had commented talked about how difficult it is to find a teaching job and that so many districts are making cut backs and what not. I thought that maybe I was just crazy and down on myself, but reading them made me feel good. I know that I'm not crazy and it IS a giant struggle. One I just don't know that I am willing to deal with right now. That pot is still simmering.....

Pathetic
Yesterday I decided that I was going to start cleaning out my closet of clothes that I no longer wear in addition to things we have in other closets and around the house that we don't use or need. I made a HUGE dent in my closet, however, upon doing so, I discovered that even after getting rid of as much as I did I still have a large amount of clothing. On the down side, 90% of those clothes are hoodies, t-shirts, and tank tops, shorts and skirts from when I lived in Vegas. I have 3 button down shirts and a few pairs of dress pants, but that's it. NOTHING to wear on a casual basis. It's the most pathetic thing I've ever seen! I'm always saying, "I have nothing to wear," but I alwasy just thought I didn't want to wear the things I had. Little did know I really DON'T have anything to wear!! I need to go shopping and buy some new clothes, but it seems like I never find anything I like or that looks nice on me. It's annoying but the story of my life. Oh well, I guess I need to just buy the things I like when I find them and if it takes a while, I guess it takes a while.

Denied

That's right. New York refuses to give me a teaching license. It's not that they will never give me one, but after I've already given the $234, they tell me that they will not issue me a certificate until I take 3 of their tests which will collectively cost me another $300. Are you kidding me?! This angers me more than you can imagine. I went to college for 4 years, got my degree, taught in Ohio and Vegas, took the tests for Ohio, and that's not enough for New York. I haven't decided yet whether or not I'll take their stupid tests. If it makes transitioning back to Ohio (hopefully) easier I'll do it, but if it's still going to cost me money and jumping through more hoops, I don't know that I'll do it. You don't need a certificate to sub, however, you don't get paid as much as you do for being "certified." I could care less about the money because it's not that big of a jump between certified and non-certified...it's knowing that they are calling me "non-certified" that really bothers me.

New Furniture

Our new furniture came today and let me just tell you how much I LOVE it!! It makes things look 100% nicer which I haven't seen in over 2 years. Everything matches which is even better. On the downside of things though, the old couch would not fit through the door to go downstairs in the basement. Now it's sitting against the wall in my dining room where it does NOT fit. We're giving it a week to either figure out if there is any humanly way possible to get it downstairs or to sell if. After a week, it's going to Goodwill or Salvation Army. I'm hoping we can find a way to get it downstairs because it's a good couch to have for a finished basement or den, but if it won't fit down the stairwell, I'm not leaving it in just sitting out of place for the next 3 years. Here are some pictures.

Moving
No we are not moving again, just furniture. Our new couches and tables come tomorrow and today I wanted to moved the couch that is currently in our living room upstairs to the den, and then move the couch from the den, down to the basement. Well, we thought we'd first start with moving the couch from the den, down to the basement. After messing with it for about 20 minutes, we decided that it's going to have to stay up there. I have NO idea how the movers got it in there, but there is no way we think we can get it out. We did manage to leave a nasty scratch in the floor which I'm less than pleased with, but hey, not my fault the landlord put in floors that can be easily damaged. Especially when he rents out this house. DUMB! It's easier to have carpets cleaned than replace wooden floors. We do our best to make sure things don't touch the floors or get drug across them, not everyone will be this careful. So I'm over it.
So now, the couch that is currently in my living room has to go in the basement which I wanted to avoid at all costs. It will have to be covered so it doesn't get full of dust and bugs. The other couch is a platicky leather and the one we've have the longest and the one we care least about, so that is why I wanted it in the basement. But that's not going to happen so I'll just have to do the best job possible in covering the one going down there.

We went out to dinner tonight for Mexican food and neither of us were overly excited about our dinner. Mexican food is best made by Mexicans, served by Mexicans and chips and salsa are the first thing that should be given to you when you sit down. None of these things happened or were present at the Mexican Connection. They did give us chips and salsa, after about 5-10 minutes. I was thinking, "Seriously?" When you are blessed with being able to eat at El Mariachi in Harrison or Hamilton, or at a various amount of places in Vegas, you tend to really know your Mexican food. The chicken in my tacos and in John's chimichanga was super dry and tasteless. There was cheddar cheese on my tacos which in real mexican food is a no no. Don't get me wrong, it tasted ok, but it was in no way shape or food what we were hoping for. The only bonus, they have easily over 100 types of tequila! I am no tequila fan by any means, but their tequila menu was overly impressive. Now the endeavor continues. There is supposedly a place called Pancho's where everyone is Mexican, but John doesn't know where it is. He said all the guys at work say that's the place you go for the best Mexican food. We'll be sure to track it down in the near future.
