Experiment

I conducted an experiment of my own curiosity today. And the results came out exactly as I expected them to.

The experiment I'm referring to is how Eden reacts to textures of food. Before I started making her baby food, she liked green beans. Since I started making them here at home...HATES them. I've always wondered if it was the texture or taste, or maybe both, but since we stopped buying baby food, I had no way of knowing.

Well, the last time I took Eden out for an extended period of time, I realized that trying to take homemade baby food for her was a giant pain in the ass since I freeze everything into cubes, and not everywhere I go has a place for me to warm it up, etc. So when I was at the grocery last, I bought some baby food just for "take along" purposes.

Today was green bean day and as I was warming some up (to waste 90% of ultimately...she only takes 3 or 4 bites) I remembered that I had some store bought green beans in the cabinet. I figured I'd try those with her first to see if she'd give me "the face" and cry in her hatred. And what do you know? Nope! Had no problem eating them at all! Proved my theory that she is not a fan of gritty textures (which I fear will screw me in the end when we start moving into more diverse foods). On the bright side...at least I know green beans are back on the menu!

Cough

My poor baby has a nasty cough and it's making her snore on and off when she is sleeping. Thankfully she hasn't had a fever and the cough itself isn't really persistent, but I'm keeping my eye on it just in case.

She has mastered and adopted the art of the long morning nap in the past two weeks or so and I'm excited about it. On the days I don't go to the gym, I'm able to get an hour workout in along with a shower and some down time depending on how long she sleeps. It's usually around 2 hours, but at times has been 2 1/2-3 hours which always surprise me. She still takes naps after that, they are just much shorter, which quite frankly, is ok with me.

I have no pictures for this past week, just haven't gotten around to it. Sorry!

Siding

I swear, when we can finally buy a house of our own, it will not be a house with siding. This stupid piece of shit house we live in now has driven me insane on windy nights. Part of it could be that the jackasses who built it didn't care because my dumbass landlord was probably never around to see that things were done properly, but I've had just about all I can take of the constant rattling of siding! It's so loud that it will wake me up in the middle of the night if the winds kick up and it keeps me from falling asleep on nights it's already windy...like tonight. All I want is a good nights sleep and the night that john said he would take the monitor in the morning so I can sleep in, and I'm thinking Ill be up half the damn night anyways. Ugh! I would go sleep in the guest room, but I shouldn't have to...not to mention, you can hear rattling in there as well. It's more of a paper rustling noise than rattling siding, but just as annoying. I hate this house!!!

6 Month Stats

Eden had her 6 month check up yesterday. She weighs 19lbs 8ozs. and is 28 3/4" inchs long. She's going to be quite the tall girl like her daddy. Little Miss Long Legs!

We bought these things at BJ's last week that help kids learn how to eat on their own but reduces the risk of choking by the food going in these mesh bags that are connected to the handle. I decided I'd try them with her this morning with a banana and it looks like she enjoyed it. I know she's still young to feed herself a lot of things...but when she is able to, it scares me. I'm terrified of her choking! I'm going to be THAT mom.

Learning to Sit

We're working on sitting up straight and on our own. We aren't there 100% yet..but we're trying!

Roll Master

Eden has quickly become the roll master. Two days ago she finally figured out how to roll from her back to her belly. She did it twice that day, and then a ton yesterday and again today. As soon as you put her on the floor on her back, she immediately flips to her belly. She gets so excited and kicks her legs, but I think she has forgotten how to get from her belly to her back because I can't remember the last time she did it! My baby is growing up so fast.

Cheese

I couldn't resist this picture of my love bug. I was aiming to get a picture of her two little teeth, and as I did accomplish it...I also got this great picture. I am aware that the top of her head is cut off, but I don't think it takes away from it at all!



It blows my mind every day that my kid really is this cute! I swear I think I love her more every single day.

So sleepy

John had to go back to work on Tuesday and started the 2-midnight shift. I hate that shift because he's gone ALL day long so it's just me and Eden. For some reason, she was protesting regular naps that day. She usually naps for anywhere from 40-60 minutes every 2-2.5 hours except for that day. She took a 20 minute nap in the morning and then another super short nap another time and then was up for 4 hours right before dinner. So it's dinner time and I know she is WIPED, but hungry at the same time, so I decided to try and get some dinner in her real quick and then get her down for nap. Well, tiredness overpowered hunger and the poor thing feel asleep in her highchair.



I felt terrible taking her picture asleep in chair, but I think every parent has that picture at some point in time in their childrens' lives.

Sippy Cup

I'm trying to introduce a sippy cup into Eden's life...however, it serves more as something to chew on versus something to drink from.

First Tooth

We discovered that Eden finally got her first tooth yesterday!! We knew it was coming because she's been more whiny than normal and chewing like a rabid dog. I've been putting Orajel on her gums every other night or two when it seems unusually bad, and I hadn't felt anything. Well, John was playing with her yesterday before he went to work and she was chewing on his finger and he says to her, "Do you have a tooth in there?" He rubbed his fingers over her gums and tells me he thinks she has a tooth. I asked if he felt something pointy and he said yes. So I went over to investigate and sure enough...a bottom tooth has poked through! My boo is getting so big!!

Teether biscuits

We got Eden some teether biscuits at the store Monday and let her have one before bath. Not as messy as I had imagined, but then again, we were both worried about her shoving it down her throat that I don't think she got it mushy enough to make a mess. Not to mention she wanted her dinner and this biscuit just wasn't cutting it.

Feet

Someone has recently found her feet. It makes changing her diaper such a long process! However, she is entertained by it which makes me happy despite the hassle.

And this little stinker will smile for my point and shoot camera, but not my big, nice camera. With time...hopefully that will change.
