We move, get settled, adjust, and just when things feel slightly normal...we move again. All I can hope is that someday...we'll put down roots.

3"
Three inches. What does that mean you ask? It's the number of inches I have left before I can't fit into our shower sideways. It's kinda funny and sad all at the same time. It's sad because it makes me feel like a house, but funny, well just cause it is!

Waiting for the Storm
I like when it storms in the summer here at my house. Mainly for the fact that 8 out of 10 times, I can watch it rain and lightening across the lake, but do nothing but be windy at my house. It currently is storming something fierce directly across the lake and I'm sitting here on my couch looking out the patio doors at it, but the only thing going on here is the wind that is pushing the storm north. The other neat thing is when it does start raining, you can usually watch it come across the lake on the water before it actually hits our house. You see ripples on the water from where it's coming down and if I have the windows open, I know I have about 5 minutes from then to get my windows closed before we get hit. I checked the radar and there's a small chance it may blow north east and miss my house completely, but just incase it doesn't, I should probably keep this short...just incase we lose power. I doubt it though. Ever since I bought kerosene lanterns 2 years ago, we've never lost power. Lucky charms!!

Panera and Pedicures
I spent this morning with my friend and neighbor, Melissa. We went for breakfast at Panera, followed by pedicures at our favorite Vietnamese place. It was nice to get out for a little while and get somewhat pampered. We used to go a lot last year but this was the first time we've both gotten around to going this year. We decided that if my daughter doesn't decide to show up early that we'd go again in 2 weeks since after that, time more than likely won't be my own anymore. As much as I'd like to go again 2 weeks from now, I'd like to have my baby even more :) I'm staying positive without getting my hopes up. I'm not that big of an idiot!

Nothing
I don't have much to report on or really talk about. The past 2 days have been rotten and rainy which made for some very unproductive days. Today is much of the same, although the weather isn't quite as bad. I didn't sleep worth a shit last night which is frustrating. I'm lucky if I get a decent night's sleep every other night. With that usually comes painful hips in the morning that leave me not wanting to do much other than lay around. I can't remember the last time I worked out which is even more frustrating, but the pain I have afterwards just doesn't motivate me to walk anymore than I need to in a normal day. The end is in sight...but just can't get here fast enough!

Bad Timing
Our mail lady comes to our house just about everyday between 12:30-1pm....EXCEPT when I have something to mail. I had 2 cards to mail out today and it was raining most of the morning, so I was waiting to see if it'd stop by noon. Wouldn't you know it, the damn mail lady comes at 11:30! This shit happens to me EVERY time I need to put something in the mail. Every other time, if I try to go and check it by 11:30, she hasn't come yet. I can't win for losing. Guess I just have bad timing when it comes to the mail.

Slushy
Last week I had a dream about going to get a slushy. It felt like the dream lasted all night long, and when it seemed like a different dream, the need for a slushy was always there. So today when I went to the meat store, they also have an ice cream stand attached to the store that conveniently has slushies. Naturally, I got one on my way out, but unfortunately, it was one of the crappiest slushies I've had in a long time. Granted, it's been years since I've had a slushy, but how this one tasted is NOT what I remember, nor really wanted. FAIL!

Red Robin
I'm not sure if I've ever posted about this before, perhaps I have, but oh well.
A friend of mine and I ate at Red Robin for lunch today. I knew I wanted a salad since I was making turkey burgers for dinner. So regardless of what I knew about the nutritional information of my salad, I ordered it anyways. When the waiter asked what I wanted, my response was, "I'll have the thousand calorie salad." Is it sad that he knew what I was referring to and said, "The crispy chicken tender salad?" Luckily, I did get the lunch portion which is much smaller and with low fat ranch rather than the honey mustard, but still, I'm sure it was terrible...but tasted so good!! I generally don't get it anymore because I know how awful it is, but I figured, I've got 29 days left to really "enjoy" being lax about what I eat, so why not?

Procrastination
My procrastinating ways have bitten me in the ass yet again this year, however, with much more disappointment than last. I've been saying for 2 months now, that I was going to sign up for the Mohawk Hudson Half Marathon in October for two reasons. 1. Motivation to get back in shape post baby and 2. I missed out last year by waiting too long to register. Low and behold, apparently I've waited too long, yet again, this year. I'm not sure how the half has sold out before the full, but I'm pissed and have no one to blame but myself. I feel like shit because I've allowed myself to put it off for this long and now I feel like I look like I just talk a lot of shit. My legitimate reasons for dragging my feet for so long were that a part of me is afraid my aches and pains won't disappear after delivery, despite everyones reassurance they will. That or that my body won't recover in time to do it. Ultimately, they're excuses despite whether or not anyone deems them legitimate and letting myself off with those excuses upsets and disappoints me. So I did some reasearch and found another half marathon the next weekend in Syracuse. I don't think it's capped so I should be able to sign up whenever, but I need to double check. I'm tired of letting myself get by on excuses when this is something I genuinely have wanted to do.

Hiccups
This is one thing I absolutely hate when my daughter gets. I am not a fan of how it feels by any means. 32 +/- days left....UGH!!

Whose Line Is It Anyways?
I love this show and miss it terribly! I discovered when we got home from the casino the other night that it's on for an hour at midnight on ABC Family. Naturally, I stayed up to watch and fear it may become a pattern this week since John is on nights. Yikes! But, why not. It's a good laugh, plus I should get used to screwed up sleep patterns now, right?

Hospital
Today, John and I took a tour of the Labor and Delivery unit at the hospital and I'm happy to report that I did not throw up or pass out. If you didn't know, I don't do well in hospitals AT ALL. Every time I've ever been to a hospital, (3 of the 4 of my nephews births, my best friends birth of her daughter, and mom having a stint put in) as soon as I get to wherever it is I'm going in there, I immediately need to sit down because an overwhelming hot feeling engulfs me and I feel like I'm going to barf or pass out. I guess it's anxiety. Either way, it's not pleasant. So naturally, I expected the same to happen to me on our tour today.
I think one of two things made me not as anxious as I expected. 1. Saratoga Hospital is TINY. The Maternity Ward is on the first floor and steps away from the main entrance. There's no gigantic 10 floor parking garage or 15 floors of hospital to navigate through which for whatever reason puts me at ease. 2. It wasn't busy and the nurse who gave us the tour was SO incredibly kind. I didn't expect her to be a bitch or anything, but she was just so nice and had an easy way about her that made me feel less nervous than I expected. She was honest with answering all my questions and super supportive of the things I had questions, curiosities, and what I should expect as far as my wishes as a patient would go. What a relief!! Now, let's just hope that the next time I'm there for admission, I'm there on my own free will and NOT an induction.
After that we went for lunch at Panera and then went to see The Hangover 2. Sometimes I forget how giant I am and that was clear today at Panera. We went to sit down in a booth, but unfortunately, couldn't fit. Even if we would've shoved the table all the way up against John, it would've been no good. So off to a table we went. The Hangover 2...funny, but essentially the same as the first movie, which I completely expected, but was still disappointed that they couldn't have done something different. Oh well, we still enjoyed the afternoon out.
We then picked up a few things at Babies R Us and Buy Buy Baby and came home for steaks on the grill, brown rice, and steamed broccoli. Tonight...we're going to the casino since John is in the process of adjusting to the night shift. They changed his schedule on him at the beginning of the weekend (which this was his 4 day weekend) which turned it into a 5 day weekend. I hate the night shift, but I'll take it since he'll be home for an extra day. YAY!

Target for Produce
I am addicted to fresh berries (strawberry and raspberries), however, the grocery store we go to...their berries ALWAYS look awful. The strawberries are over red to the point to where they almost look burnt, if that makes sense, and the raspberries look much of the same as well. They look mushy and just not right. I have found though, now that Target sells groceries, that they have THE BEST strawberries and raspberries. They carry the brand Driscolls which always seem to be the best looking and tasting. As much as I hated that Target started carrying groceries (only because it increases the number of idiots pushing carts there), I love and am thankful that they have the best berries! The other good thing as that they're reasonably priced as well. Although, I'm pretty sure that even if they were more expensive, I'd still probably get them.

Schedule Change
They changed John's schedule at work yesterday which means his 4 day weekend just turned into a 5 day weekend! He was originally supposed to go on the 2-midnight shift next Tuesday as always, but they've changed what section he's in and now he'll be going to the night shift next Wednesday instead. I hate the night shift, but it's kinda good because as soon as that week of it is over, he'll go back to days and then start the normal rotation all over again. He was originally supposed to be on his 4 day weekend on my due date, but now it'll be the week before...hopefully a sign from the universe that our daughter will want to come early! I'm sure that won't be the case, but a girl can dream, right?
Not sure what we'll get into this weekend, but hopefully something fun at least one of the days!

The Price of Walking
I forced myself to walk on the treadmill today for 30 minutes. It gave me some energy for a good portion of the afternoon, however, the price I'm now paying for that is an extremely sore pubic bone. It's quickly reminded me why I stopped walking and switched to my spin bike and eleptical. But recently, with using those I still end up with terrible hip and sciatic pain later that night. I'm lucky to work out 3 days a week anymore which I hate. I'm screwed every which way I go. And taking Tylenol to get rid of the pain is a joke. I keep hoping one day I'll work out and not pay for it later....but so far, no such luck.

So Tired
I have been so incredibly tired these past 3 days that I can hardly function. The sad thing is that it isn't even heat related. Guess it's just mu body slowing down before the baby gets here. 5 weeks and some days to go...hopefully we can shorten that by a week or few days! Wishful thinking.

Bites bite!
We...well, John much more so than I, are now the proud owners of black fly bites due to our weekend trip to Whiteface. We knew to expect bug bites and to arm ourselves with bug spray since the race website specifically said, "Bring bug repellent if you want to avoid getting bit." For me, I was worried for obvious reason. Prego girls shouldn't use bug spray with DEET (and come to think of it, I don't even know if our spray had DEET in it or not). But I wasn't about to get bit. So I wore long pants and a hooded sweatshirt up to the summit, which was only in the 50s anyways so I needed the warmth anyways, and I had John spray my clothes rather than my skin and he obviously sprayed himself down from head to toe since he was obviously going to attract them while running and sweating.
I thankfully only came away with 1 on my neck. John, however, has probably 10 or so and they are NASTY looking. I pulled this image off of Google and it's exactly how John's look. Although, John's are not all clustered like this. He's got a few on his legs, arms, and one on his jawline.

The downfall to our perfect weekend!

Great Weekend
This has been once of the best weekends I have had in quite some time. John was off and had registered a few weeks ago to run an uphill race at Whiteface Mountain for this Sunday. His original plan was to drive up this morning, run, and then drive back home...all while thinking I'd come along. I told him last week that he could kiss my giant pregnant ass if he thought he'd stick me in a car for 2 hours, then make me sit at the top of a mountain for an hour and a half while he ran up, and then sit for another 2 hours to go home. I told him the only way I was going is if we went up the night before and just made an overnight trip of it. His original response was, "Well, I have to work on my class on Saturday and I think it's stupid to spend the extra money." Me: "Ummm, you do only work on your class from 7am until about 10 or 11am, not all day. We could leave in the afternoon. And do you realize that come next month, overnight/weekend trips alone will be a thing of the past?" He didn't really respond, but the next day after I suggested that, he left a post-it on the counter that said, "Go ahead and book a place for us at Whiteface for that Saturday night before the race." I win!
So, needless to say, I booked a place for us. However, I was a little bit skeptical. Something you may not know about me. I'm kinda snobby when it comes to places to stay...I don't do "motels" or anywhere the doors are accessible from the outside. John and I stayed in a DUMPY HoJo years ago when we were dating and it scarred me for life. Unfortunately, there were only "motels" in the Whiteface area and any major chain hotels were either in the Lake Placid or Saranac Lake area, which were going to be a 30 minute drive to the mountain, plus much more expensive. I looked at my very few options in Whiteface, and the only place that was reasonable was a place called the Mountain Brook Lodge, which was, in fact, a "motel." The funny thing was though, that every place I could find that had reviews for it gave it 5 stars. It didn't look dumpy from the outside, and the rooms looked ok (had that Adirondack look i.e. all wood paneling in the rooms). Everyone's reviews said the owners were great and they had a comfortable stay, blah, blah, blah. For $89 a night and not forcing us to stay for 2 nights (most places up that way have a 2 night minimum stay during peak seasons and weekends) and not to mention a 5 minute drive from where John needed to be this morning, I said screw it, and booked it.
The joke all they way up yesterday was how it was going to be the Bates Motel and I was going to hate every second of staying. And can I say what an AMAZING weather day Saturday was?? Low to mid 70s, sunny...PERFECT!! We got there around 4 and as soon as we pulled up, I wasn't afraid at all. It looked cute and very non-scary for a motel, and I hate to even call it a motel because it really wasn't. I know you all know that motels usually LOOK like motels. They just have that scary and run down look to them. This place did not! It's just a guy and his wife who own it and are the nicest people on the planet. The know everyone's names who are staying with them and will do anything you need to make you feel at home. The town it's in is super tiny so they could give you recommendations on where to go and anything else you needed. It was just so out of the ordinary from any major hotel, I imagine it's more like a bed and breakfast than a motel.
We had dinner over in Lake Placid Saturday night at a place called Generations. It was so good! We had a fruit and cheese platter as an appetizer and I had a grilled chicken sandwich for dinner that had roasted red pepper, pesto, and cheese on it, while John had ravioli. After dinner we just walked around town since it wasn't overcrowded, which was nice for it being a Saturday night in Placid. After that, we went back to Whiteface, walked to a whippy dip around the corner for a malt, and then came back to watch some tv before bed. The weather was just so nice and everywhere wasn't busy so it was just really enjoyable to be out.
5am came bright and early this morning and there was no sleeping in for me. Once he's up and milling around and we're in the same room, it's up for me too. 6:30am rolled around and we were able to walk not even .2 miles to pick up his packet and number, and then turn right around and walk back to our place so I could eat breakfast at 7 before he wanted to wait at the start at 7:30.
I left around 7:45 to drive up to the top of the mountain and wait. The race started at 8 and John arrived at the top around 9:25. He managed to come in 26th out of 120something runners with a time of 1:21:and some seconds. And would you know that after that 8% grade, 8 mile uphill run, he ran back down to the hotel? Yup. The man is crazy. So I drove 8 Canadians down.
There was a guy and his wife that I heard talking about thumbing a ride down as they walked past the truck before I left and offered to take them. They were so happy! So on our way down the mountain we picked up 4 more people who were thumbing, so they piled in the bed. And then another mile later, 2 other people we saw, we asked if they wanted a ride, and they too, piled in the bed. We passed John around mile 5 and I asked if he was sure he didn't want a ride since we had one seat left in the cab. He said no, so we drove on. I dropped everyone off at the bottom of the mountain at the start line and was happy that I could contribute something to these people. It's a courtesy that a lot of people adopt when there are mountain races like this. Since it's one way up, if you don't have someone at the top waiting to take you down, you either run back down or pray someone will be kind enough to drive you down.
After John got back to the hotel he showered and then we went back to Lake Placid for brunch, and then to a place called High Falls Gorge. I wanted to go last year when he ran the Lake Placid marathon, but the day we got there it was raining so we didn't go. It was so much scarier than I thought it would be, well, the trail that is. The "hard" path was closed due to damage they incurred during spring flooding which they were showing video of it in the gift shop which I guess is what originally scared me. But then once we saw where that trail was, I was kinda glad it was closed. It's literally jutting out from the cliff on some wood and steel. SCARY!!

It was a great weekend...best we've had together in long time and I'm so happy we had such a nice time. Yay!

Perfect Weather
What a perfect weather day today was! Not a cloud in the sky, sunny, low 70s...pretty perfect minus the breezy conditions. Although, it wasn't as bad as yesterdays wind. Yuck! The day overall had "perfect" potential. The weather, I had lunch with a friend from WA who I haven't seen in 3 years, watched an EPIC tennis match from the French Open between Federer and Djokovic, but the only downfall to the near perfect day was that I felt like total hell this morning. I woke up at 4 and couldn't fall back to sleep to save my life. I had to be up at 7 so I could get ready for my doctor's appointment, which they cancelled 15 minutes before my appointment and was already on my way there, so I wasn't all that disappointed they did cancel since it gave me a chance to come home and catch a quick nap before meeting my friend for lunch. But when I got up at 7 I thought I was hungry, but when I tried to eat, it just made me feel like I was going to barf. Thankfully it didn't last all day, but I did feel very sluggish and blah for most of the day, but despite that...it was near perfect (especially weather wise). I'm hoping tomorrow will be better!

June 1st
Wow, here it is, June 1st. I did a terrible job of posting last month and I'd like to think I'll do a better job this month. Time will tell though.
With June 1st comes LOTS more excitement, seeing as our baby is due NEXT month. I'm hoping this month will go by fast, but since that's what I'm hoping for...I'm sure it'll creep by. Although, we do have plans for this weekend, next weekend, and then a friend of mine is coming up the weekend after that so maybe with all of that it will go fast.
Not much has been going on around here. My birthday was less than exciting since John was on the night shift, and I had a doctor's appointment the next day. So we "celebrated" the next day by going for Indian food before he had to go to work. He did get me a nice necklace from Tiffany's as my gift though. He's gotten good at that :)
Last weekend he did a duathalon downtown. It was a 5k run, 20 miles on a bike, and then another 5k run. He finished in about an hour and 53 minutes which was pretty good. I think he was 53rd overall out of 400 participants. He would've been 3rd in his age division, by our neighbor beat him out by just a few minutes (he does bike racing with his wife) due to his much faster bike riding than John. But still, his performance was really good. I was the designated cheerleader of course, cheering for John, Melissa and Jason (our neighbors), and another one of their friends who races, Aurora. I feel kinda lame being the one who doesn't do any of that (not like I could right now) stuff, but I guess I'll get over it.
I'm ready for it to be tomorrow since we're supposed to get a break in the heat. It's been in the high 80s and humid lately, but tomorrow is only supposed to be high 60s which is going to feel downright cold! But my air conditioner will be happy to get a break though. I've got some laundry that needs to be done that I've been putting off since our dryer is upstairs and our upstairs doesn't need any additional help being hot as it is.
I don't really know much else seeing as my life is pretty lame these days. Yes, I know that will soon change. Hopefully I'll do a better job posting this month than last month!
