Best Balloon

This past weekend, one of the neighbors behind my house was having a party. To clearly identify our street, they tied this balloon on to the street sign. If you can't tell what it is, it's a giant mug of beer.I'd like to vote this as the best balloon! I can't believe I've never seen one like it before nor had one! Note to self: next party I throw, buy this balloon!

Spoke Too Soon

This morning at 4am I woke up with the WORST stomach pain ever. I've been having issues for the last 2 1/2 weeks and yesterday I finally felt like the issues were over but apparently not. I had been talking to my friend Julie before I went to bed and we were talking about it and I said I felt like I was better. Guess I spoke too soon. It was such an awful pain that it made me nauseous. It woke me up and I went to the bathroom and sat there for about 10 minutes. Nothing. So I went back to bed, and as quick as I laid down, I got back up and did my biz. As soon as I go, all the stomach pains go away and I feel better. It's disgusting, annoying, and miserable. I never wanna eat much because I'm afraid it's going to give me stomach pains, but I never feel sick sick. I'm able to work out every day, go about my daily routine, it's just when it strikes, it strikes fast and furious. I've decided that I'll make a doctors appointment Monday and hopefully get in on Tuesday. I guess I'll keep it, even if I feel better by then.

What is it?

What is it about a getting a bloody nose that will instantly wake up you (if you're sleeping) up whenever you get one? I think it's the strangest thing! I woke up at 7am this morning feeling like my nose was running and I immediately realized that it was probably a bloody nose. I got up and got a tissue and sure enough...bloody nose. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about waking up knowing it's a bloody nose because it ultimately keeps you from getting blood all over your pillow. But still, it's crazy!

My other, "What is it..." for today is what is it about getting a pedicure from one of the Vietnamese places (or any place for that fact) that makes your toenail polish stay on and look so good for at least 2-4 weeks? My neighbor and I treated ourselves to pedicures last week and my toes still look as good as they did they day I got them done. For whatever reason, whenever I try and paint them myself, they never look that good or last that long. Again, I'm not mad or complaining, I just don't know what I'm not doing that they are. I will tell you though, something that they are doing that I'm not, is they punch my feet and legs and I love it. I know that sounds horrible, but it feels so good. It's not some full on slug or anything, but it is in fact punches, and boy do I like it! If I could just get them to punch my back....I'd be in heaven! And yes, you read that right. I often get muscle spasms/pulled muscles in a certain part of my back and the only thing that makes them feel better is when someone punches me there. It's all really a form of massage though, isn't it?

Weekend with Family

This weekend my aunt and cousin came up for a visit. The weather wasn't as nice as I'd hoped it would be and seems every time I've had visitors, the weather has been poopy. But, even though it wasn't the picture perfect weekend weather wise, it was lots of fun and great to have them!

The first night we ate at an Italian restaurant just down the street and although the service wasn't the quickest, the food was excellent. The reason it took so long was because everything they served, was fresh and made to order. The bread they brought out, no two loaves looked alike and was hot. All of our food was piping, fresh hot and the portions were huge!! After that we finished the night at the Racino watching the trotters (harness horses) and playing some slots.

The second day we went downtown, ate lunch and did a little shopping around. We had to make a quick trip home due to some stomach issues I've been having for the past 2 weeks (no, I'm not pregnant and yes I'm sure). After the pause in the day we went back out to an art fair, dinner, and made it an early night home.

The last day we went to Lake George and enjoyed the sights up there. We also spent a little bit of time in an arcade feeding our inner child with games and tickets. It was so much fun!! We all like to play the slots at the casino and we're big fan of getting to play any 'bonus' games the video slots have. The fun thing about the arcade was like putting in money and getting to play a bonus round every time. I forgot how much I loved skeeball and the other things they have in arcades. I kept thinking how much fun my nephews would have. Hopefully I'll get to take them to one sometime.

Monday came too quick and they were gone back to Cincinnati. I hope that they can come back sometime....together, separately, I'm not picky! I love having family around!

Go Figure

Every year my friend Matt and I go the ATP in Mason, and this year I was unable to go since it falls right when my aunt and cousin are coming to visit. So today I get a text from Matt that says, "Turn on ESPN2 at noon. I'm 2 rows behind the umpire's chair!" ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!? On top of that, the first match of the day he got to see was Roger Federer. What a double punch in the face for me. I was so mad! Ok, not honestly mad, but sad that of all ones that I had to miss, it was this one with the great seats, and a Federer match at that. UGH!

Randomness

It's early morning (well, it's 8:15am which isn't all THAT early) for me to post, but I didn't get to do it yesterday and watching Good Morning America got my brain and mouth going. So forgive me if this is random, and if I post twice today. Who knows.

First of all, I've been doing a lot of thinking lately and I'm thinking that once September gets here I'm going to give up drinking. Well, maybe not give it up, and I don't even want to say "cut back" because I seriously think I maybe drink 1 day a week (and that's usually Wednesday on pint night), but maybe rather than drinking the 5 or 6 that I might have, I'll only have 1 or 2. I became SUPER lazy while I was working and I fell off the workout horse which didn't make me very happy. So now that I'm back to not working for now, I'm recommitting to working out. I would like to lose 10lbs or so and be able to keep it off, however, I'm not willing to eat like a rabbit for every meal and work out for 9 hours a day. We eat well at my house so it's not like I need some major overhaul, but I figure if maybe I cut back/down on the beers, maybe I'll have a little bit better luck. And if not, well then who knows. I'm not relying on that change alone to lose weight though. Hell, I'm a little annoyed at myself for even talking about it on here. But, whatever, like I said, this post is titled randomness for a reason.

I have been doing the P90x workouts with John daily and am taking a liking to it. He's been doing it for almost 3 months now and he's in even shape than he was before. It's sick how fit he his. But, I'm hoping that I'll fall into the same routine as him as far as sticking to it. I'm very good about going to the gym on a daily basis, but these workouts are different than going to the gym. You work different muscles on different days so you aren't doing the same thing every day. We'll see how this works for me after a few months. That's all I've got to say about that.

Lady of Leisure

My last day was last Thursday and it couldn't have come at a better time. John's 4 day weekend started the next day so we got to spend the whole 4 days with neither of us working and free to do whatever we pleased.

My last day went well, we did a pot luck for lunch and this girl Dorris make me a pineapple cake. It was one of the most delicious pieces of cake I've ever had in my entire life!! It makes me happy just to think about eating it. It was that good!

Friday, I don't really remember what John and I did. I think we ran errands or something. We were supposed to go on a hike Saturday, but the forecast was super hot and muggy so I begged for us to not have to go hiking. So instead, we went tubing down the Hudson river. Not the dirty part, but the clean part up near the Adirondacks. It was so much fun and such a smarter decision because it was pretty gross outside. It was relaxing to just float down the river in the cool water. Our only complaint was that we should have done the 3 hour one versus the 2 hour because out of the 2 hour, I think maybe just a little over an hour of the 2 hours was spent in the water. But overall, we really enjoyed it.

Sunday we grilled out and then went to the racino (which is what they call the casino up here). That was a lot of fun too! We each took $40 and never had to use more than $20. Just when we were down to a dollar or two, we'd win a bonus and it'd pay $10 or more so we just kept playing. I came out ahead in the end, and John was only down $10. Not bad if you ask me.

Monday we didn't do much, just ran a few errands, worked out together, and then went out to dinner. We ate at this Mexican place called El Mariachi's which is the same name of my favorite mexican place back home, but it is in NO WAY near as good as it. It was ok, but nothing has come close to El Mariachi's back home.

Today it was back to work for John and he's working the 3-11pm shift so it'll be boring nights for me this week. Although, my aunt and cousin will be coming up on Friday so I'm excited for that. In the mean time, I have a lot of cleaning and picking up to do. Now that I'm not working anymore I'll try harder to post daily again...pending my life warrants anything exciting to talk about. Not that it ever has really...but oh well!

Not Keeping Up

Once again, I've been terrible about not keeping up and posting on here.

Mom and dad came for a visit from July 19-25 and it was the fastest week I've had in a long time. I really enjoyed having them here for the whole week, although I wish the weather could have been a little bit better for them. My dad was awesome and made us a cornhole set and brought it up which I couldn't be more excited about. Although, the wood he made them with makes them super heavy to carry. I can't wait for a decent night where it's not too hot and not too buggy so we can get our neighbors to come out and play along. My dad was also kind enough to fix some things around the house for us which was super!!

My mom enjoyed sitting on the porch on the non-rainy days and just not going to work. She deserved a break and I wish it could have been longer. She kept trying to help out around the house, God love her. I told her to sit her butt down and stay out of the kitchen and that she didn't come to work. It was so good to just have her here (and dad too).

I put my two weeks in at work on Friday. The whole week kept getting on my nerves and every time I had to work with this kid TJ, I got even more irritated. His daddy is somebody in the company which would explain why he gets away with doing nothing, being notorious for coming in late and getting to leave early.
