Expanding the Family?

Last night my friends Marisa, Kurt and I went out to dinner to this place called Talk of the Town. They have the BEST pizza! Before we went though, Marisa and I stopped at Kohl's so she could return something. As she was standing at the register I walked over and looked at the cards. There was one that had a yorkie puppy on it that was so cute and I was telling Marisa about how I've always wanted one.

Today, she sends me a text message that says she saw an add in the paper for free yorkie puppies. She ripped out the add for me so I'm going to probably see about it tomorrow. I haven't talked to John about it yet, but we've always talked about getting a dog. I promised him that when we get a bigger house we can get a big dog of his choosing, but I still wanted a little dog of my choosing. So, if these are for real yorkies (even if they're mixed with some other small dog and cute) and free, I just might have to get one.


Would this not just be the cutest addition ever? Not sure if the puppies even look like this but if it'd be anywhere close, I couldn't resist!

My Laugh for the Day

Today I volunteered at Scholatic Books again and will again tomorrow. I really like doing it and wish I could do it on a weekly basis, but unfortunately it isn't a weekly thing. I have come into good graces with the General Manager so whenever it does come around town, it's nice to know that they want me to come work and I love getting the books.

Today however, proved to be the most hilarious day yet. It was me, Andy the GM, and another volunteer Loraine. I was sitting at a back table behind the check out eating my lunch and Andy was showing Loraine how to cash people out. I hear Andy tell her that she's almost to $60 and if she wants to go and get a few more books to get up to $60 that she can get $10 off. I just happen to turn around to look around and I see this woman who was checking out turn around to get more books and her pants are completely split from north to south in the behind. The look on Andy's face was PRICELESS! He stood there and stood in disbelief for a good 2-3 minutes. I turned back around to my sandwhich and died laughing. Not so much at her pants but at his face. She either had no idea that her pants were split or she just didn't care, but I don't know how your pants could be completely split in the ass like that and NOT known. I could see her legs!!!! That's how badly they were split. And she didn't have shorts on or anything like, "hey I know my pants are split but I don't care because I have shorts on underneath." Ten minutes after she was gone he says to me, "How in the hell did that just happen? Was that even real?" And we both just laughed.

I can still laugh as I write about it and will enjoy telling the story the rest of the day. Funniest thing I've seen in a while!!

Bug Spray

I successfully bought some bug spray today and sprayed down my front door, steps, overhang covering my front door, garbage cans and the whole area surrounding my front door. Here's to hoping it fixes the gnat problem!!

Traumatized

I am officially traumatized and never more so than I am right now. John is working the 3p-11p shift this week and since he gets home around 11:30 or so, I leave the back porch light on for him. Our doorbell is broken and has been for about 2 months now and my landlord has yet to come and fix it. On a daily basis it buzzes really loud until it either just stops on it's own or you open the door and continue to hit the doorbell button until it stops.

It started buzzing around 10 and I was sitting on the couch watching tv so hearing the buzz was annoying. I got up, walked over to the door, opened it so I could go out and push the button and was immediately swarmed by bugs. I freaked out and closed the door as quickly as I opened it. I looked up and there were literally hundreds and hundreds of gnats all over my ceiling and walls. It was the most horrifying sight I've ever seen. Straight out of a horror movie about bugs. I was talking to my friend Leigh Ann on the phone and was freaking out about how I was going to kill them. I started by using a broom but decided the better route would be the vacuum.

So I just spent the last 40 minutes trying to suck up all these bugs. It was hard because I had to turn all the lights off in my kitchen so they wouldn't scatter throughout my whole downstairs to wherever there was light. Just when I thought I had them all, I walked over to sit down on the couch and noticed that there was about another 100 or so hanging around the lights on my ceiling in the living room so I had to take care of them as well.

I called John and told him when he gets home he has to come in through the basement and in the dark. I'm am horrified and grossed out!! My hopes are that I can sleep tonight and not dream about gnats being all over me. Looks like tomorrow I'll be going to buy some sort of bug spray.

Great Minds

John and I were feeling lazy last night in the dinner department so we decided that we'd go and pick up Chipotle for dinner and then take it home. We stopped by the Redbox at Price Chopper to see if there were any good movies to rent beforehand and ended up with Seven Pounds. If you don't know what the Redbox is, it's literally a red box that you can rent movies from for $1 a day. It's SO much cheaper than going to Blockbuster (obviously) and the selection is generally pretty good as long as you are wanting newer movies, but aren't most people?

So after that, we went and picked up our food from Chipotle and then got back in the car to take it home. As I was getting ready to pull out of my parking space, I see a car pulling into the space diagonally in front of me. It's none other than my neighbor and her husband. I cracked up. I beeped my horn and John and I both waved. She waved back and then started laughing. So after I pulled out I rolled my window down and she says, "You should have told me you guys were coming! We'd have gotten ours to go and we could've had a picnic!" She and I always talk about how much we love Chipotle so to see them there was just funny. Great minds think alike.

Wal-mart Hates Me

Please bear with me while I rant for this post.


Somehow in the week I was gone and the week that it took me to get to the store after getting back, Wal-mart decided that they would stop carrying everything I eat. I don't know if they just stopped carrying it as a whole or were just out, but either way, I was upset! Every day for lunch I like to eat a pita sandwich made with Joseph's Flax and Omega pitas. They are the most delicious pitas I've ever had in my life mainly because they are soft and fresh, and low in calories. I cut them in half and stuff them with romaine lettuce, one piece of pepper jack cheese cut in half (half for each half of the pita) and then 2 slices of Oscar Meyer thick carved turkey. For whatever reason, Wal-mart didn't have the turkey OR pitas. I'm so mad. I've never seen the pitas anywhere else and I'm not keen to shopping at an entirely different store just for those 2 items. I'm hoping that it was just a fluke and they'll have it next week. So this week, I'll have to use some tortilla's that are pretty comparable to the pita, and instead of turkey, I guess I'll just have to use grilled chicken strips.

The Delay

Sorry for the delay on posting. As you know I went to Cincinnati for a week and when I came back, 2 of my friends came along with me (or I came with them rather) and then they left on Sunday. I spent Monday doing absolutely NOTHING since I never really got to "recover" from being back in Cincinnati, and then Tuesday and Wednesday I spent most of my day volunteering at Scholastic books. It was great to volunteer for them because they paid me $10 in books, so I walked out the door yesterday with $115 in books that I didn't have to pay for, and I'm doing it again next week. I'm hoping that someday I'll be able to get back into a school and have a classroom where they will be put to good use. And even if not, someday my kids and my sister's kids can use them if they need books to read for school.

My time back in Cincinnati was good. I think this is the first trip that I barely saw any of my friends! I did get the opportunity one night to go to a party on Saturday night for my friend Erin's husband's birthday. It was nice because it was outside and the weather was awesome and I did get to see and hang out with a few of my friends. All my other days were spent with my nephews which is always fantastic. I always miss them more than normal after I've been in town and spent my days with them. Here's just a few pictures of them while I was home. Ben didn't want me to take his picture (he never does). I didn't take any pictures of the new little one either. So I had to swipe some from my brother in laws Facebook.







When my friends came up to visit we had a blast. I haven't laughed as hard as I did that weekend in a long time. I took them sightseeing around town at some of the extremely large houses we have in this city...new and old. I took them to Caroline Street which is the bar street for a night of drinking completed by a doughboy from Esperanto...a must for anyone at the end of a night of drinking. Their last day here went downtown for some shopping and just all around fun times. Here's a few pic from that.



We found these masks at a shop downtown and I've never been so close to peeing my pants before in my life! We laughed SO hard!! How can you not?!?!

This one is one of my favorites! It's way bigger than we'll probably ever be able to afford but I like it because it's all brick and doesn't look overly obnoxious and richy.
