We move, get settled, adjust, and just when things feel slightly normal...we move again. All I can hope is that someday...we'll put down roots.

Happy St. Patrick's Day
St. Patrick's Day is one of my favorite holidays, mainly because there is always drinking involved. I'm sure most of you think I'm a drunk or a lush which is completely untrue. I like the taste of beer and enjoy drinking it, but it's not something I HAVE to do. I don't even drink all that often to be honest. But anyways, I had plans to go out tonight with Marisa, but she caught a nasty little bug that has her toilet bound for the evening which I have no desire to catch. So, looks like I'll be spending the evening at home. John wants to have a bottle of wine so looks like we'll drink that and if it suits me, I'll have some beers later on. Not the crazy bar night I'd planned on, but this is ok too. John loves when I stay home with him versus going out with my girl friends. Ha ha!

Girl Scout Cookie Cheesecake?

Last night, John and I ate at the Cheesecake Factory for dinner and I'm sure most of you know they give you a GIGANTIC portion. I ate not even half of what was on my plate and declined to take the rest home as I only will let myself eat one "bad for me" dinner a week. I figured it was best to not tempt myself. When the waiter came back and asked if we were interested in cheesecake, well, obviously if I just ate a not so healthy dinner, I might as well have dessert too. He told us about the blueberry something cheesecake and then his personal favorite which he said, "Tastes like a Samoas Girl Scout Cookie." I swear this guy was reading my mind because just the other day at the store, I saw an ice cream that has Samoas in it and I was telling John how much I LOVED Samoas. So clearly, I had to get that cheesecake.
Holy moly was it ever delicious!!!! It tasted so much like a Samoa it was unreal. It was like eating one of those cookies with cheesecake on top. I never should have eaten the entire thing as it was SUPER rich, but I was so over it. It was worth every calorie and gram of fat. I ran 2 1/2 miles the next day which I'm sure didn't even burn off the piece of cheesecake, but it makes me feel not as bad about eating it. For anyone who loves Samoas and The Cheesecake Factory, I suggest you try the Chocolate Coconut Cream Cheesecake.

Making Progress....Finally
As said in my last post, I am applying to get my teaching license here in New York. I spent maybe 30 minutes on it that evening and that 30 minutes was ENOUGH for me. I was so upset and irritated that I just had to leave it alone for a day. So this morning I logged on (you have to do everything online and there is only very VAGUE information telling you partially what to do with umpteen million options and NO clear explanation of which option you should pick)and was STILL unsure of whether or not I had applied correctly. The only sure thing I did know was that they got $194.45 from me thus far. So, I did a little digging and emailed this woman at the BOCES (they are the people who will issue my license) asking for help/guidance. Thankfully, she emailed me back later on and told me that I need to mail her a few things and then get fingerprinted (and send ANOTHER $25) and that should hopefully secure me a teaching license here for the next 2 years. My hopes now are that I can either find a full time teaching job for the upcoming school year (which I am honestly not optimistic about) or can find a school that will call me for sub jobs on a regular basis without having to go from one district to the next just to work 3-5 days a week. On top of it, I want to LIKE subbing. I have a VERY jaded perspective on substitute teaching, but I'm hoping that since I am not the run of the mill sub, that it'll be ok. All I can do is try. I told John that if I hate it, I will do it enough to pay for what it cost me to get the license and then after that, I will just do something else.

Back to Work
Not me, but John. He started work this week on Monday and when I asked him yesterday how work was going, his response was, "Well, nobody really cares that I'm there because right now I don't really belong to anyone so, it's really kind of a waste of time. But oh well, that means I don't have to work this weekend so it's fine." This shocked me a little bit because he usually is annoyed when nobody really knows what's going on and if there is no real purpose, but oh well. Him being off this weekend means that he'll be able to go pick out a couch and love seat with me. Yay!!! I went and looked yesterday and found about 4 that I really liked, but I want to get John's opinion. So hopefully this weekend, we'll decide on something and we'll have a new living room set next week.
Monday and Tuesday I spent pretty much all day shopping for things for the house and I'm getting a lot accomplished. Today though, it's a rainy yucky day, so I'll be staying home and working on my application for my teaching license. It's a much longer process than it was in Vegas, and I get irritated after about a half hour of jumping through hoops for it, so I take it one day at a time. I'm hoping I'll be done by Friday, and next week at the absolute latest. I'm pretty confident that I will be done by Friday though.
We're still waiting to get those fabulous temperatures I hear those of you in the Midwest are getting. We've yet to really see anything above 50. Monday we had snow, and they're staying that next Monday we have potential for another possible storm with heavy wet snow. It annoys me, but at the same time, it looks pretty and hasn't really caused a problem for us. So,I don't mind. I'm just hoping that we'll see spring sometime in the next few weeks. I'm ready to turn off the heat and start opening windows!!

T.M.I
Too Much Information...my apologies if this post consists of this.

We discovered that we really like pesto. However, pesto does not like either of our bodies.
Last night we decided to have tortelloni with sun dried tomato pesto sauce. It tasted fantastic! An hour later I had the worst gas...and then 10 minutes later, John had it too. It was horrible!! Needless to say, pesto of ANY kind will no longer be purchased, offered, cooked, or served in my house. As good as it tastes, I prefer that any room that John and I are residing in not smell like a giant toilet.

Have A Beer!

It's Green Beer Day at Miami University and because I am an alumni and I love beer, I will be sure to drink one today! I also ordered a T-shirt from their online store. It's very fitting for me this year.

I have every intention of wearing this on St. Patricks Day when Marisa and I go out for beers. Supporting beer, Miami, St. Patrick's Day, and New York. Could I get any craftier (if that's a word)?

What a Difference
Today we got our rugs!! I'm so excited about them. It makes a HUGE difference in our room and I think it's going to be nice when I get out of bed in the morning and put my feet on carpet instead of freezing cold floor. One piece at a time we are getting things in order. We've had hodge podge ever since we got married and I'm just ready to get new things. Every time I go over to Melissa's house, it amazes me how different our houses feel because all her stuff matches, whereas not much of our does. I'm hoping that by this summer we'll have everything the way we want. We're already planning on getting a new living room set with our tax return so that is my next endeavor to embark on. I'm excited. As much as I didn't want to put up pictures of how it looks with the rugs (only because our furniture isn't what I want forever) but here it is.
The family room
The spare bedroom....ready enough for visitors (don't mind my curtains on the bed that need to be hung in our bedroom. I just ironed them and needed a place to lay them where they won't get wrinkled!)
And our bedroom. Still needing to hang curtains and some pictures and someday will have nice new furniture that my dad will hopefully make for us!
