Of course, here's how she spends most of her time with Grandma. Not sure quite how I feel about it because once she's gone, I can't hold her all day long. But when you look at that face, it's hard not to want to!!
We move, get settled, adjust, and just when things feel slightly normal...we move again. All I can hope is that someday...we'll put down roots.

Last Night
John and I had another date night last night (dinner out at Giffy's Bar-B-Que) and I dressed Eden so cute for the day that I desperately wanted to take her with us. Unfortunately, I still think she's too small to take along out to dinner, and plus, with Grandma Nakel here, we left her to spend time with her. So since she was awake when we got back (we're never gone more than 2 hours...yes, I'm THAT mom right now) I snapped these 2 pictures. I think this dress makes her look like she's ready for a Hawaiian vacation. I'm going to try and talk daddy into it for next summer!

Of course, here's how she spends most of her time with Grandma. Not sure quite how I feel about it because once she's gone, I can't hold her all day long. But when you look at that face, it's hard not to want to!!

Bath Time!

Small Victories
So my posts are far and few between these days as I'm still trying to figure out how to manage my time. We've had 2 small victories in the past 2 days. Yesterday's victory was Eden and I going out to Walmart all by ourselves. I fed her right before we left, waited about a half hour, and then put her in the car seat to go. As soon as I put her in and fastened the buckles, she SCREAMED. I thought for sure that I was going to have to cancel our outing because I was nervous about her screaming all the way there, but I decided that I was going to try and swing the car seat back and forth to see if that would do the trick, and sure enough, it did. Yay! With that, I hurried to get her in the truck and away we went. She slept all the way there, through Walmart (minus a 1 minute crying fit that stopped as soon as we started moving again) and back. It was a great day for us!
Today's victory was giving her a bath by myself. We've been giving her some formula in addition to me breastfeeding her (my boobs simply can NOT take some of the constant hourly nursing she wants to do) and I hate doing it for one reason. It causes her to have MASSIVE blowouts once a day. I've never seen so much poop come out of such a tiny body. So today, after I took these pictures of her, she had her blowout and it was BAD. Instead of the poop coming out the sides of her diaper, it came up out of the front and there was a 2 inch wide band of poop all over her belly. I knew that no amount of wipes was going to clean her the way she needed to be cleaned and waiting until later in the evening when John got home just wasn't an option I wanted to entertain. I figured I might as well do it now since once John goes on the 2-midnight shift, I'll have to do it by myself then anyways.
She was such a perfect little girl! I laid her on a towel on our bed while I got her bath ready and she was so good. Didn't fuss, cry, or fidget one bit! She loves bath time and I am so thankful because if she hated it, I'm not sure how I'd get through it.
So I'm celebrating small victories in my world. I'm on my own pretty much 90% if the time so this helps me stay positive and feeling like I'm not a failure as a parent!
Here's some pictures before our big blowout. This onesie has since been demolished and thrown away. Not even worth rinsing out and trying to save, especially since I'd say in a week or two she won't even fit into it.

And now that we're all pooped out and clean, we sleep :)

The Story of Eden
It's been quite some time since I've posted, but as most of you all know I am now a mommy!! My precious little girl came into this world on Thursday, July 14 at 2:25a.m. For those of you that don't know the story, I'll tell you as quickly as possible since my time posting is limited and only made possible by grandma who is spoiling her rotten by holding her.
Wednesday the 13th was like every other day. John had left for work around 1:30pm and I was lying on the couch watching t.v. drifting in and out of sleep. Come 2:10 or so, I told myself to just go upstairs and lay in bed to take a real nap. So I got up, walked around the back of the couch and got 5 steps and GUSH, my water breaks. I said out loud, "Holy shit, my water just broke." I was on my way to the bathroom anyways because I had to pee, and for a second, I seriously questioned if I peed my pants, but in my head I knew that wasn't the case.
I then proceeded to call the OB and tell them my water had broken, but wasn't having any contractions or pain. They had a nurse call me back and she told me that the on call doctor said to just go to the hospital. Next, I called John's work. I talked to one guy who seemed like he didn't know how to either find him or why I was even calling, but then when he asked if I was his wife, passed me off to another guy. So this other guy gets on the phone and was like, "Is it time?" I said, "Um, yeah. My water just broke." So he said he would go get John and send him home immediately and wished me luck.
My next call was my neighbor because at this point it really hit me that I was going to have this baby in the next 24 hours. I also needed some super absorbent maxi pads because I was clueless on how I was going to get to the hospital without having water drip all down my legs while we drove to the hospital and on my way in. She was at work and dropped everything to rush to Rite Aid, pick me up some pads, and rush to my house and keep me company while I waited for John to get home from work.
When John got home, we made sure we had everything and then headed to the hospital. I was in no rush by any means since I wasn't having any contractions and I didn't want to stress myself out. When we got to the hospital, we checked in, got our room and played the waiting game. I told the nurse I didn't want to be asked about my pain, but if at any point I said I wanted the epidural to give it to me, but my plan was no drugs.
After 20 minutes of being hooked up to the fetal heart rate monitor, they unhooked me and let me walk around and do whatever I needed to do to be comfortable. When they checked me and was 6 centimeters, I still wasn't in awful pain. I could feel the contractions getting stronger but it was in no way anything I couldn't handle. It wasn't until I was between 8-9 centimeters that I was mildly wishing for the epidural, but 1. knew it was too late and 2. knew I could more than likely handle it.
Pushing was the part the scared me the most. Being told to push like you're having a bowel movement made no sense to me. I'm not shitting this kid out of my ass, why in the world would I push like I'm pooping?? Thankfully, it only took about an hour of pushing and my sweet Eden came to be! I can't believe I got my wish and everything happened the way I wanted it to. I thought for sure that I was going to bawl my eyes out the second they put her on me considering, every time I've watched a show where someone has a baby, I'd cry, but I didn't. I remember saying, "Hi! You're my sweet baby! I love you!" And the second thing I said was, "You just came out of my crotch. That's so gross." The doctor cracked up.
It was such a crazy experience and like I said, I can't believe I got my wish and that it all happened exactly the way I wanted it to. The nurses at the hospital were great and they backed me up 100% on what I wanted to do. They were so encouraging and when I was almost crying and saying I couldn't do it anymore, my delivery nurse was my cheerleader. I LOVE the doctor who delivered Eden. I'd seen her twice during my pregnancy so when I found out that she was the one on call, I was glad.
Thinking ahead to baby #2 in the future, I don't know if I'd like to feel it the second time around. Although, if it all were to go down the way it did with Eden, I guess I can't say that it wouldn't mind. Time will tell and that's a long way off!

The Difference
I am so incredibly amazed at the difference in the way I feel today versus how I've been feeling for the past 5 days. I've been angry, bitchy, uncomfortable, miserable, sad, and just not myself. Today when I woke up (after a decent night's sleep I might add...notice I didn't say good as that's just a joke these days), I wasn't as achy as I usually am and I just emotionally felt like a different person. It amazes me. I don't know if it's because we went out to the casino last night for a while or if it's because I was able to sleep better than usual, but it's so nice to not feel like I've been feeling. I'm sure John appreciates it too!
I'm still counting down...6 days now and that's all I'm going to say about that. I divorced myself from Facebook...well, kinda. I got tired of people asking when I was going to have my baby or asking how I was feeling (this is different from the people who have said they hope I'm feeling well or to hang in there...those comments don't bother me like asking how I'm feeling) so I posted that I wasn't going to post any new status' nor respond to anyone's questions regarding the baby. I'll post when we're lucky enough to have her, but then people are always saying, "Pics please, let's see her, blah blah blah" (and again, these comments are different than, "can't wait to see her") and honestly...that's the last thing on my mind! I feel like being very selfish and just really cherishing those first moments or days without letting myself be annoyed. My family will be the first ones to know via phone calls from my mom and I'll deal with everyone else after that, on my terms, when I'm ready. I've just been so annoyed these past few days that I figured I should stop it now while I'm not such a bitch. It feels good, and it'll feel ever better after our daughter is here and we get to enjoy her privately as a new family :)

July 4th Weekend
Well our 4th of July was nothing eventful really. We didn't partake in any outings other than the grocery store and taking a walk 2 days of John's 3 day weekend. The biggest accomplishment of the weekend would be getting the desk out of our daughter's room and into our room instead of the basement. I decided that maybe we should put it in there to see if I could tolerate it, and then if I couldn't, it could be moved into the basement today. So at 8pm last night, John took the legs off of it and used a towel to drag it across the hall into our room. I don't love it in there, but it's not awful so I think I can deal with it for the next year and a half. If I decide in later months that it drives me crazy, I'll be able to participate in moving it to the basement. Time will tell.

July 1st
With today comes the fun fact of knowing that our baby girl will be making her appearance this month!! I can't believe it. This past nine months have been slow and fast all in the same right. I'm going to the doctors weekly (have been for the past 2 weeks) and it's weird because it makes it that much more real to me. John and I are both excited, but I'm secretly scared as well. I'm not scared of her or parenting, but just of how our whole life is going to change...and not that it's a bad thing at all, but it's just scary.
Her room still isn't ready as far as being the way I want it to be. The desk from the office is STILL in there. I asked John to get rid of it by June 1st, and here it is July 1st and it's STILL in there. He's supposed to move it this weekend with the help of my neighbor's husband which I'm thankful for, but it's just caused me unnecessary stress. He sees it as, "She has everything she needs in there," and I see it as, "It's not perfect and the way I want it to be." Yes, I should probably adopt his mind set about it, but when I need that room to be set up for MY own comfort for when she's here, I see it more my way than his. I know she could care less, but I do. I guess I need to give up the perfectionist attitude and learn to just take things as they come. Lord knows I've got a lifetime of unseen things coming our way!
